Terms and Conditions

The terms on which you may use Owlia: this site, the access request, and the application itself. Asking for access does not create an account.

In force since 6 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Owlia Education operates this service, from Av. de les Nacions Unides, 40, AD700 Andorra. In this document, we means Owlia Education and you means whoever is reading it. Write to us at legal@owlia.app about anything on this page.

2. What Owlia is

Owlia is a study companion for people aged 12 to 18. It asks you what you think before it explains anything, it works through a topic with you, and it keeps track of what you have practised. It is not a homework machine: it will not write your essay or hand you the answer, and that is the point of it.

Owlia is not a school, not a teacher, and not a substitute for one. It can be wrong. It uses language models, which produce confident text whether or not it is correct, so check anything that matters against your class materials. Nothing Owlia says is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.

3. Where these terms apply

They cover Owlia as a whole:

  • www.owlia.app, the public site, which anyone can read;
  • the access request, which is how you ask for a place;
  • my.owlia.app, the application, once you have been invited.

Accepting them is a condition of asking for access and of using the application. Reading the public site has no age requirement and asks nothing of you.

4. Age, and asking with a parent or guardian

Owlia is built for people aged 12 to 18. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian has to ask for access on your behalf, accept these terms with you, and give consent before your data is processed. We may ask for evidence of that consent, and we may refuse or close an account if it turns out not to exist.

Owlia asks for that below 16 wherever you live. Some countries set a lower age; we do not go below 16. Reading the public site has no age requirement.

5. Asking for access

Owlia opens to a small group first, by invitation. Asking for access does not create an account, does not reserve a place, and does not oblige us to give you one. There is no queue position to check, no criterion you can appeal against, and no launch date. We would rather write that plainly than promise a date we cannot keep.

6. Your account

An account belongs to one person. Do not share it, do not let someone else use it, and tell us if you think somebody has got into it. Give us information that is true — an account opened with somebody else's details is not yours.

You can stop using Owlia whenever you want and ask us to delete your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm someone, or that we are required to close.

7. Using Owlia properly

Please do not:

  • use Owlia to produce work you then present as written by you where that is not allowed;
  • try to make it produce material that is illegal, that harms someone, or that is sexual content involving minors;
  • use it to harass, impersonate or mislead another person;
  • probe, scrape, overload or reverse engineer the service, or get around its limits and protections;
  • resell it, or plug it into something else as if it were your own;
  • use the name Owlia, the owl, or the design of these pages to suggest an endorsement or an association that does not exist.

Academic honesty is between you and your school. Owlia is built to teach you the method rather than to hand over the answer, but what you do with it is your responsibility, and your school's rules still apply.

8. What you write, and what we do with it

What you write in Owlia stays yours. To run the service we need to store it and send it to the providers that make Owlia work — that is what lets a conversation continue tomorrow where it stopped today. What we collect, why, for how long, and who processes it is set out in the Privacy Notice, which is part of these terms.

Do not put into Owlia what you would not want stored: identity documents, passwords, medical details, or somebody else's personal data.

9. Cards, points and progress

Cards are earned by answering questions, never bought. They have no monetary value, cannot be sold or transferred, and are not a currency of any kind. Which cards exist, how they are earned and how progress is counted can change as Owlia changes, and a card you already won stays yours even when it leaves the catalogue.

10. Price

Owlia is free during early access. If a paid plan ever appears, what it costs and what it includes will be shown before anything is charged, and it will arrive as a new version of these terms rather than as a change to this one.

11. Availability and change

Owlia is being built. What it does, how it is worded and when any of it is available can all change, and we can add, alter or withdraw parts of it. The service can be unavailable, for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we do not warrant that it is free of errors or that it will always be there.

12. What belongs to whom

The name Owlia, the owl, the design, the site and the software behind the service belong to us. You get permission to use Owlia for your own studying, and nothing more. The Inter typeface does not belong to us: it is used under the SIL Open Font Licence, and its licence text is published with it.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any right you have as a consumer under Andorran law. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for exam results, marks or academic outcomes, or for decisions taken on the strength of something Owlia said.

14. When these terms change

A change to this document is a new version, not an edit. Every version keeps its own permanent address and never changes once it is published, so a version you accepted can always be read exactly as it was. The version in force is always the one at /terms/, and a new version is presented for acceptance before it applies to you.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Andorra, and any dispute goes to the courts of Andorra. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.

16. Privacy

How Owlia handles your data is a separate document: the Privacy Notice. It is worth reading, and it is written to be read.
